Receivables managers help together:

Debt collection industry supports flood victims - atriga uses innovative technology for concrete aid offers

The solidarity with the people affected by the flood disaster in Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria and Saxony is unprecedented, and the willingness of private individuals and companies from all over Germany to help is more than impressive. Also the Bundesverband Deutscher Inkasso-Unternehmen e.V. (BDIU) has now transferred 5,000 euros to the Aktionsbündnis Katastrophenhilfe, and President Kirsten Ped invokes the approximately 550 members of the association to participate in the campaign. In addition, many debt collection companies have announced that they will suspend dunning processes in the flooded areas in order to create financial freedom for those affected. The two atriga managing directors Christoph Ruoff and Oliver Burgis explain exactly how this can work and how innovative technology can help.

Debt Collection means responsibility

Many people have lost their entire belongings and fear for their existence. What they need least of all now is a debt collection company that wants to collect an outstanding invoice. atriga, a pioneer in digital and customer-friendly receivables management, is taking the BDIU’s motto ‘debt collection means responsibility’ at its word and is now proactively approaching debtors in the flood areas. atriga Managing Director Christoph Ruoff explains how this works in practice: “We welcome and support the BDIU’s appeal. In detail, however, we go one step further and have already coordinated a catalog of measures with our clients in advance. For example, we are not only suspending reminder activities in the affected areas, but are also proactively approaching each individual debtor with an individual offer of assistance. Of course, only the debtor himself knows which type of support is particularly welcome in each individual case. From our side, we guarantee maximum responsiveness to each debtor.”

Innovative technology as a helper in times of crisis

Oliver Burgis, atriga’s managing director and tech expert, describes the particular benefits of the company’s IT systems in this crisis: “We can use our sophisticated IT platform to identify every single debtor in the affected federal states in a geographically structured manner. In concrete terms, this means several thousand cases for us. Thanks to our systematic typologization, we are able to address each affected individual in a very targeted, prudent and compassionate manner on a communication channel via which they can most likely be reached at the moment.”
