Michael A. Renz is new Director Key Account Management at receivables management pioneer atriga

There are only a few personalities who have more than 30 years of experience in receivables management and debt collection and have provided intensive support to almost all sectors. Michael A. Renz is one of them: In his previous positions, Renz co-developed the first risk assessment module for e-commerce and managed M&A transactions and mergers to private equity, among other things. Most recently, as Head of Sales DACH at the Lowell Group, Renz was responsible for all new business in the DACH region. The recognised expert for digitalisation, innovation and transformation has now come on board as Director Key Account Management at atriga, the pioneer in digital and customer-centric receivables management.

We spoke to Michael A. Renz about the reasons behind his decision and the atrigaGenAI showroom, where the first fully legally compliant Large Language Model-based voice and chat bots for communication in receivables management have now gone live.

Mr Renz, why atriga in particular?

Michael A. Renz: “My heart has long been beating for the German SME sector, with its exciting mix of tradition and innovative spirit. I am also firmly convinced that owner-managed companies like atriga have the greatest opportunity to be at the forefront in a rapidly changing environment. This is because they can not only keep pace with the digital transformation of the debt collection industry, but also have a say in it, as they are not held back by shareholders or sprawling hierarchical levels. atriga is a real prime example here – and that convinced me.”

atriga Director Key Account Management Michael A. Renz: “atriga not only develops for its own processes, but also makes technology and solutions available to all clients as white label services for their own receivables management. I don’t know of any other company on the market that takes this approach.”

What makes atriga so special?

atrigaLabs, the company’s own IT development department, is a decisive factor and a major advantage. atriga is not dependent on an external collection platform, for example, and keeps all developments in its own hands throughout. Innovation takes place here on a holistic level, but also in each individual component. In addition, all clients benefit from this philosophy, because atriga not only develops for its own processes, but also makes technology and solutions available to all clients as white label services for their own receivables management. I don’t know of any other company on the market that takes this approach. The reason is simple: the big ones can’t do it because of their ageing IT infrastructure and the small ones don’t want to because it simply costs a lot of money.”

Speaking of innovation and technology: What role can and will generative AI play in the field of receivables management and debt collection?

“The use of generative AI in receivables management enables atriga to pick up people in financially difficult situations around the clock, right where they are. Away from rigid processes towards an individual and highly personalised service offering at individual case level within the customer financial journey. This is our vision of the ‘new world of receivables management’ based on Gen-AI: among other things, customers can agree a very flexible instalment payment agreement tailored to their situation in a human-like dialogue in almost all common languages with the atriga bot. The best thing about it: this is not a vision of the future, but can be experienced live in the atrigaGenAI showroom. With the use of Gen-AI, which is of course also available as a white label for our clients, atriga is redefining the fundamentals of receivables management and once again proving its international innovation leadership.

“Generative AI in receivables management is not a vision of the future, but can be experienced live in the atrigaGenAI showroom.”

And this exceptional position is no coincidence, as atriga has been looking very closely for many years at what is technically possible and useful with AI and how we can utilise AI-based solutions for receivables management. We also look at findings from marketing, behavioural research and customer experience management. The most important thing, however, is that atriga is organisationally and technologically capable of doing this and will also successfully follow this path as a pioneer.”

Mr Renz, thank you for the interview!
